Get to Know Coach Pat
Who am I?
I am a health coach that has been through so many of the ups and downs of the diet roller coaster. Over a decade I weighed almost 300 lbs., with little motivation to get healthy at all. I ate and drank with reckless abandon and smoked at least a pack of cigarettes a day. All this after being a 2-sport athlete in high school and playing on club a club rugby team and intramural sports throughout college. I thought I could be done moving and stay in the shape I was. Boy was I wrong.
One day I went to Six Flags with my brothers. At some point I went to get on Batman The Ride and the harness would not close over me. What an embarrassment. The shame I felt walking off that ride was a shame I had never felt before, and was one I never wanted to feel again. It was then that I decided to change my ways.
It has not always been easy, there have been too many ups and downs to count. I have lost weight and gained most of it back more times than I really want to count. What has finally stuck, minus a few extra pandemic pounds, was Working Against Gravity. Having a nutrition coach that could guide me along the process and help hold me accountable was exactly what I needed. It was a combination of finding a fitness routine that worked for me and the nutrition that powered my body through those workouts and my daily life.
I was so inspired by the process that I went and got certified as well in the hopes to help more people like myself. Now here I am starting my own nutrition coaching journey. I’m excited to help people live healthier lives and feel better about themselves every day. I’m hoping to help people cut through all the nutritional BS out there and find the most sustainable way to get to their healthiest self.
In my day to day life I work as a CrossFit coach at CrossFit KOA in Mountainside, NJ. I spend a lot of time playing with my two young daughters and spend most of my free time learning more about the human body and mindset and how we can use it to live more fulfilling lives. I have multiple nutrition and fitness certifications (CrossFit L1, NASM-CPT, Precision Nutrition Level 1, Working Against Gravity, and CrossFit Nutrition L1) and am currently working towards my Precision Nutrition Level 2 Master Health Coach certification (due to be completed in April 2022).
